Room for the whole family

Space to spread out, comfort to stay a while, and a setup that lets work fit around the trip.

Villa Hermosa sits on 1.25 private acres in the hills above Playa Hermosa, a small surf town on Costa Rica’s Central Pacific coast. The deck opens onto a curved private pool, a hammock, and an unbroken jungle view—no neighbors in sight, just the kind of place where 7 a.m. coffee and 6 p.m. sunset feel like the same day.

Inside, every bedroom has air conditioning, a real bed, and a workspace—so if a work week lands in the middle of the trip, it fits in easily instead of taking over. The master room is set up for a full work week: ergonomic chair, adjustable standing/sitting desk, and quiet enough that meetings sound like meetings. Bring the laptop and the kids; both will be at home here.

You’re five minutes from Jaco for groceries, restaurants, and nightlife, ninety minutes from San Jose airport, and a short walk from one of the country’s most consistent surf breaks.

Where the jungle meets the sea

Playa Hermosa isn’t just another beach—it’s a protected World Surfing Reserve, one of only a handful in existence. The waves here are legendary: powerful beach breaks that peel across black volcanic sand, creating perfect barrels when the swell is right.

Beyond the surf, the beach itself is breathtaking. Driftwood-strewn shores, dramatic sunsets painting the sky in oranges and pinks, and the silhouettes of surfers waiting for the next set. It’s the kind of raw, untamed beauty that reminds you why you traveled here.

Whether you’re an experienced surfer chasing barrels or a beginner learning your first pop-up, there’s a wave for you. And when you’re done, the jungle-covered hills rise behind you—a reminder of how wild this coast still is.

  • World Surfing Reserve

Playa Hermosa is one of only 13 World Surfing Reserves—recognized for its exceptional waves and cultural significance.

  • Year-round swells

Consistent beach breaks with waves ranging from beginner-friendly to powerful barrels that challenge pros.

  • Golden hour magic

End every session watching the sun melt into the Pacific—the sunsets here are legendary.

  • Uncrowded lineups

Miles of black sand beach mean you can always find your own peak without the crowds.

  • Amazing place. Max's videos and instructions of using the house were amazing and super helpful. The location is gorgeous, peaceful, quiet… yet very close to everything at the same time. Great beach, perfect waves to surf. Can't wait to come back for another trip! Highly recommended.

  • An unfathomably beautiful, private oasis at the top of a jungle. The pool was perfect as was the hammock overlooking the entire jungle and ocean in the distance. We spent three days not wanting to do anything but enjoy the house and the surroundings and relaxing. The hosts were very responsive and flexible with my ever changing roster of guests. I would 100% recommend - but be prepared to walk about 25 min to the beach and the bars. Honestly, a car is unnecessary but a bike would've been exactly the thing to make it perfect. 100% grateful for the stay and the welcoming hosts!

  • I can't say enough about our stay at this amazing villa in the jungle! I'll try my best but I'm lost for words, by far the best air bnb experience yet. I honestly thought finding this slice of paradise would be hard but the instructions were great and Maxim was there to help throughout the trip right away, with instructions, recommendations and anything else. The rest pictures do not do the place justice, don't get me wrong the pictures are great, but you cannot capture just how perfect this place is with a couple photos. It's peaceful, private and truly relaxing. Day or night the pool is the perfect temperature, in the day time you will find numerous pairs of beautiful macaws flying over head. The house is amazing and an absolute treat to call home for as little as we had it but I would be surprised if we try and book it again before we leave, as long as it's not already booked. Perfect location! Close enough to Jaco but just far enough to find peace. Thanks again!

  • A great home in a fantastic location. Plenty of birds and wildlife to view every day. Cool breezes and I didn't need AC from September until I left mid November! Can't say enough about how much I really enjoyed my stay!!

  • Fantastic private villa with a pool and viewing platform. Spacious, clean, and very well-equipped kitchen! The laundry room with a dryer is also very convenient. Wi-Fi is also great. A 30-minute walk from a beautiful beach. The value for money couldn't be better! Communication with the owner was excellent – quick responses. Thank you very much, Max! Highly recommended.
